Rhubarb

6.16.2017.1 copy

A queen sized bed

rests in the ribcage.

Its right-side pillow exhales

slightly humid breaths

toward the twitching curtains.

Vultures claim the corpse lying

to the left, careful

not to choke on cotton

skin or wake

their dormant roommate.

In the morning, sheets

conceal midnight’s missed stain.
